≪GR SAUNA≫는 GRAILZ와 작가 선리의 협업 전시로, 회복의 목욕 공간을 탐구하는 작가의 작품 세계와 GRAILZ의 비주얼 모티프에 기반하여 제작된 입체, 평면 콜라주를 포함한 사우나 설치 작품을 선보인다.

선리는 지속적인 근육의 긴장으로 인한 염증성 질환을 겪었던 개인의 경험을 계기로 사우나와 화장실과 같은 목욕 공간을 신체적, 정신적 회복의 공간으로 탐구한다. 사회 내에서 개인이 느낀 상호 작용의 단절감을 조명하며, 목욕 공간이 단순한 기능적 장소를 넘어서서 깊은 연결과 소통을 통한 회복을 지원하는 치유와 재생의 장소가 될 수 있음을 강조한다. 작가는 타일, 레진, 위생도기 등 다양한 재료를 활용하여 목욕 공간을 재현하며, 몸을 직접 본뜨는 방식인 라이프 캐스팅 기법을 통해 인체 오브제를 제작하여 신체와 감정의 상태를 사실적으로 재현하고자 한다.

그는 나아가 사우나의 사회적, 문화적 유래에 기반하여 목욕 공간이 사회적 상호작용을 촉진하는 커뮤니티의 장으로 기능할 수 있음을 탐구한다. 본 전시에서는 GRAILZ를 찾는 다양한 사람들이 GR SAUNA라는 공간에서 커뮤니티를 형성하고, 그 안에서 의미 있는 상호작용을 할 수 있는 순간들을 제공하고자 한다.

≪GR SAUNA≫ is a collaborative exhibition between GRAILZ and Sun Lee, showcasing a creative sauna space installation that includes sculptures and collage printings based on the Sun Lee’s exploration and visual motifs of GRAILZ.

Sun Lee explores bath spaces including saunas and bathrooms as valuable space of physical and mental recovery. This exploration stared from personal experiences with inflammatory conditions caused by chronic muscle tension serve. She examines the sense of disconnection in society she experienced and represents that bath spaces can transcend their functional roles to become places of deep connection, communication, healing, and regeneration. She uses various materials such as tiles, resin, and sanitary ceramics to recreate bath spaces. For body sculpture, using life-casting techniques to make body objects that realistically express the states of the body and emotions.

Furthermore, she delves into the social and cultural context of saunas, exploring how these spaces can function as community hubs that promote social interaction. This exhibition aims to provide moments of meaningful interaction within the GR SAUNA, allowing diverse visitors to GRAILZ to form a community and engage in social exchanges.
